Are you looking to build a long-term career in specialist medical administration?
Preston Dermatology & Specialist Centre is a busy specialist practice dedicated to providing exceptional dermatological care in a qualified, supportive and patient-focused environment. We are seeking a warm, organised and reliable Medical Reception & Administrative Coordinator to join our Client Services team.
This role will commence on a casual basis while you complete your training and integrate into the team, with the intention of transitioning to a permanent part-time position within approximately six months, subject to successful completion of training and business requirements. We are looking for someone who is committed to becoming a valued, long-term member of our team - not someone seeking short-term or ad hoc casual work.
About the Role
As one of the first points of contact for our patients, you will play an integral role in creating a welcoming, professional and efficient experience while supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of our specialist practice.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Welcoming patients and delivering exceptional customer service.
- Managing appointments, patient enquiries and follow-up bookings.
- Coordinating specialist consultations, Mohs surgery bookings and associated paperwork.
- Preparing and maintaining accurate patient records and correspondence.
- Preparing quotes, processing billing and patient payments, including Medicare and third-party claims.
- Explaining fees, financial consent and appointment requirements to patients.
- Liaising professionally with referring doctors, hospitals and other healthcare providers.
- Providing general administrative support to the clinical and administrative team.
About You
You are someone who:
- Is passionate about delivering outstanding patient care and customer service.
- Is organised, reliable and has exceptional attention to detail.
- Communicates confidently,
professionally and empathetically.
- Remains calm and efficient in a busy environment.
- Takes initiative, enjoys problem solving and works well as part of a collaborative team.
- Demonstrates a strong work ethic, accountability and a willingness to learn.
- Is looking to establish a long-term career in specialist medical administration.
Previous medical reception experience is highly regarded but not essential. We also welcome applications from candidates with strong administration or customer service experience who are eager to learn. Experience with Genie or other medical practice software is advantageous; however, comprehensive training will be provided.
Hours & Availability
This role will commence at approximately 1-3 shifts per week, with opportunities for additional shifts as operational requirements grow.
To be considered for this position, applicants must have availability on both Monday and Tuesday.
Flexibility to work additional weekdays and occasional Saturday morning shifts is highly desirable. Penalty rates apply to Saturday shifts.
The role may also involve occasional early starts (from 7:00 am) and late finishes (until approximately 5:30 pm).
Why Join Us?
At Preston Dermatology & Specialist Centre, you'll become part of a supportive and collaborative team that genuinely values professionalism, kindness and continuous improvement.
We offer:
- A welcoming and supportive team culture.
