Ultraplayers Game
Box Hill
Some games begin with a small team, an unusual idea and almost no audience. The right community can change that!
UltraPlayers is looking for a Community Marketing Manager to help distinctive indie games find their first true believers—and turn early players into active, growing communities.
This is not primarily a customer support or moderation role. You will help shape how English-speaking players discover, understand, discuss and share our games, while connecting community activity with broader marketing goals.
ABOUT ULTRAPLAYERS
UltraPlayers is a Melbourne-based indie game publisher working with a focused portfolio of distinctive PC and console games across global and Asian markets. We identify what makes a game compelling, validate it early and help it reach the right players.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Build and manage English-speaking communities across Discord, Steam, Reddit and relevant social platforms.
• Plan community activities around announcements, playtests, demos, Steam festivals, launches and post-launch updates.
• Write natural, engaging English announcements, social posts and player communications.
• Identify player feedback, cultural trends, memes and user-generated content opportunities.
• Create campaigns and community moments that players genuinely want to join and share.
• Work closely with marketing, creative, publishing and development teams.
• Turn community feedback into clear insights and practical recommendations.
• Track outcomes including wishlists,
demo participation, engagement, reviews and community growth.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
• Native-level written and spoken English.
• Deep knowledge of PC games, Steam and online gaming culture.
• Professional experience in game community management, social media, content or marketing.
• Strong English copywriting skills and the ability to adapt to different game identities.
• A marketing mindset—you think beyond answering questions and maintaining channels.
• Strong judgement when handling player feedback and public communication.
• Robust ownership and the ability to turn an idea into action.
NICE TO HAVE
• Experience supporting an indie game launch.
• Experience with Steam Next Fest, demos, playtests or creator campaigns.
• Experience building a community from an early stage.
• Familiarity with Asian gaming markets or international teams.
WHY JOIN US
You will have the opportunity to join games early, shape how they communicate with players and see the impact of your work from the first community members through to launch.
You will not simply inherit an established community. You will help create one.
HOW TO APPLY
Please send:
• Your CV.
• Examples of communities, campaigns, content or games you have worked on.
• A brief description of one community initiative you led and the result it achieved.
• The name of one indie game community you admire—and what made it work.
