The role

We're looking for a Line Chef to join our culinary team.

This role is ideal for a Chef de Partie, or an experienced Commis Chef ready to take the next step in their career. A 2nd or 3rd year Apprentice Chef may be considered, pay rate would change accordingly.

You'll work alongside our Head Chef and Sous Chef, with potential to step into a lead role when required to ensure a smooth, efficient kitchen operation.

This role will ask as much of your character as your craft. We're looking for someone who is confident in their skills, and humble in the way they protect and serve others.

Casual hours with potential for part-time work. Our kitchen runs 7 days a week, breakfast to dinner. Open shifts start 6am, close shifts typically finish by 6-8pm.

Yukana is an independently owned, not-for-profit retirement village in Toowoomba, offering retirement living and care apartments, where services include dementia care and palliative care.

You’ll work with and be supported by our Head Chef, who brings international Michelin-star restaurant experience.

Key duties

- Deliver existing menus and methods, including texture modification

- Support change by implementing recent menus, methods and standards

- Lead by example in line with Yukana’s values

- Contribute to a positive and motivated kitchen atmosphere

- Run a smooth kitchen across all services, including functions

- Maintain a clean and organised kitchen that meets food safety standards.

Criteria to be considered for this role

- Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery

- Experience as a Chef de Partie or Commis Chef in a high-end or fine dining environment (preferred)

- Ability to work across all sections of the kitchen

- Consistent, exceptional food quality

- Functions and high-volume cooking experience

- Full Australian working rights

- Available to work a 7-day roster including evenings, early starts, public holidays and weekends.
