About the role

JMAM Pty Ltd is seeking an Assistant Manager to join our team in Port Fairy, Victoria. This is a full-time position that offers an exciting opportunity to support the day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives of our hospitality and tourism business. As Assistant Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring exceptional service delivery, maintaining high operational standards, and contributing to the success of our establishment. You will work closely with senior management to drive business performance and create memorable experiences for our guests.

What you'll be doing

- Supervising and coordinating staff members to ensure smooth daily operations and adherence to company policies and procedures

- Managing guest relations and resolving complaints or concerns with professionalism and discretion

- Overseeing inventory management, stock control, and ordering of supplies and materials

- Assisting with the development and implementation of operational procedures and service standards

- Supporting the management of budgets and monitoring financial performance across relevant departments

- Scheduling staff rosters and managing labour resources efficiently

- Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations at all times

- Contributing to staff training and development initiatives to enhance service quality

- Maintaining and monitoring cleanliness and presentation standards throughout the facility

- Supporting marketing and promotional activities to attract and retain guests

- Handling administrative tasks including documentation, reporting, and communication with head office

- Acting as duty manager and making decisions in the absence of senior management





What we're looking for

- Proven experience in a hospitality or tourism management role, or equivalent supervisory experience in a similar industry

- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff

- Excellent customer service capabilities and a genuine passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences

- Sound knowledge of hospitality operations, including front-of-house and back-of-house functions

- Proficiency in point-of-sale systems, inventory management software, and general computer applications

- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

- Sound financial literacy and experience with budget management and cost control

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams

- Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing operational challenges

- Flexibility and willingness to work varied hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required

- Current First Aid and Food Safety certifications or willingness to obtain them

- A commitment to maintaining high standards of health, safety, and hygiene compliance
