An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Licensed Customs Broker to join our AFS Global Team based at our Melbourne Airport site. Reporting to the Director – International Freight and Customs Operations, this role plays a key part in ensuring the compliant, accurate and efficient clearance of import and export consignments.
Working closely with Freight Operations teams, customers and government agencies, you will provide expert customs guidance, support operational outcomes and help deliver seamless international trade solutions for our customers.
About the Role
As a Licensed Customs Broker, you will be responsible for managing customs and quarantine clearance requirements across a diverse portfolio of import and export consignments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensure compliant and accurate customs and quarantine clearance of import and export consignments.
- Provide customs advice and guidance to customers, supporting solid client relationships.
- Support Freight Operations teams with import and export clearance requirements.
- Complete disbursement invoices where required.
- Conduct tariff classification and valuation assessments.
- Audit cleared consignments to ensure compliance with customs requirements.
- Monitor and continuously improve customs clearance procedures and processes.
- Prepare and submit DAFF entries through COLS.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ABF, DAFF and ATO industry changes, regulations and trends.
About You
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Australian Customs Broker Licence with 3–5 years’ experience.
- DAFF Accreditation (minimum 19.1).
- Strong knowledge of air and sea freight processes.
- Experience with CargoWise (highly desirable).
- Strong understanding of customs compliance, tariff classification and valuation requirements.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and attention to detail skills.
- Robust communication and relationship-building capability.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within time-sensitive environments.
- A collaborative mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
