About the role
Working as an integral member of our customs team, you'll be responsible for preparing and processing customs documentation while supporting the smooth movement of our clients' shipments.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Preparing and lodging import and export customs declarations
• Reviewing commercial invoices, packing lists and transport documentation
• Tariff classification and customs research
• Assisting with Free Trade Agreement assessments
• Ensuring compliance with Australian Border Force (ABF) and Department of Agriculture,
Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) requirements
• Responding to customs and biosecurity queries
• Liaising with freight forwarders, transport providers, government departments and clients
• Monitoring shipment progress and resolving operational issues
• Supporting our Licensed Customs Brokers with technical customs matters where required
• Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements
About you
We're looking for someone who enjoys working in a collaborative team, takes pride in producing quality work and genuinely enjoys the customs industry.
Ideally you'll have:
• Experience in customs compiling, classification or customs operations
• Sound understanding of Australian customs legislation and import/export processes
• Experience preparing customs declarations
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
• Excellent communication skills and a genuine client-focused approach
• An interest in continuing to develop your customs knowledge and industry expertise
• Working towards, or having completed, the Australian Customs Broker course will be highly regarded, but is not essential
