About the role

Murchison Medical Clinic is seeking a dedicated Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team on a part-time basis. This is a key position at the front line of our clinic, where you will be the first point of contact for our patients and play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our practice. Based in Murchison, VIC 3610, you will be responsible for creating a welcoming environment whilst managing administrative and scheduling tasks that directly support the quality of patient care we deliver.

Key responsibilities

- Greeting patients warmly upon arrival and maintaining a professional, friendly demeanour throughout their visit

- Managing patient appointments, including scheduling, confirming and rescheduling bookings

- Processing patient registrations and maintaining accurate patient records and documentation

- Handling telephone enquiries and directing calls to appropriate medical staff

- Processing patient payments and managing billing enquiries in a professional manner

- Managing patient confidentiality and ensuring compliance with privacy legislation

- Assisting with general administrative duties such as filing, photocopying and data entry

- Supporting medical staff by preparing patient notes and ensuring examination rooms are organised

- Liaising with other healthcare providers and external organisations as required

- Maintaining a clean, organised and welcoming reception area

What we're looking for

- Previous experience working in a medical practice, healthcare facility or similar patient-facing administrative environment

- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently

- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a professional telephone manner

- Proficiency and expediency with medical practice management software and general computer systems using Microsoft.

- Demonstrated commitment to patient confidentiality and understanding of privacy obligations

- A caring,



empathetic approach to patients and a genuine interest in supporting their healthcare needs

- Ability to work effectively as part of a small team and to support colleagues

- Reliability and punctuality with flexibility to meet the needs of the clinic

- A current working with children check and national police clearance (or willingness to obtain these)

- Preferred: Experience with appointment scheduling systems and familiarity with medical terminology using Best Practice Software and Hot Doc
