About the role

JSC Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Estimator - Civil Construction to join our growing team in Canberra, ACT. This is a full-time position based in our Canberra office (ACT 2600). As an Estimator for Civil Construction, you will play a critical role in our project delivery process, providing accurate cost analysis and tender documentation and help with monthly claims that directly impacts our competitiveness and profitability. This position is essential to our commercial success and will require you to work closely with senior management, site team, contract and accounts team. to ensure we win quality projects and deliver them profitably.

What you'll be doing

- Preparing detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for civil construction projects of varying scales and complexity

- Analysing project specifications, drawings, and technical documentation to determine material, labour, and overhead costs

- Liaising with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotes and pricing information

- Developing and maintaining estimating databases, cost models, and historical project data for future reference

- Conducting site visits and inspections to assess project scope, site conditions, and potential challenges

- Collaborating with onsite teams to clarify project requirements and resolve technical queries

- Monitoring market trends, material costs, and labour rates to ensure estimates remain competitive and accurate

- Providing tender support and cost reconciliation during the post-award phase

- Presenting estimates and justifying cost assumptions to clients and internal stakeholders

- Contributing to continuous improvement of estimating processes and methodologies

What we're looking for

- Minimum 5 years' experience as an estimator within the civil construction industry

- Proven track record of preparing accurate, competitive estimates for civil construction projects

- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, labour costs, and project scheduling as they relate to civil works





- Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office applications (Excel particularly key)

- Excellent numerical and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail

- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams

- Understanding of Australian construction industry standards, regulations, and procurement practices

- Relevant qualifications such as a Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Estimating) or equivalent experience

- Experience with Building Information Modelling (BIM) or quantity surveying software is preferred

- Familiarity with the Canberra construction market is advantageous
