We are seeking reliable, vigilant, and highly trained Maritime Security Guards to join our security team. In this role, you will be responsible for protecting port facilities, vessels, personnel, and cargo against unauthorized access, theft, vandalism, terrorism, and other security threats. You will enforce security protocols in compliance with the local maritime regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Access Control & Perimeter Security
- Monitor and authorize the entry and exit of employees, contractors, visitors, and vehicles into restricted maritime areas.
- Inspect identification badges, access passes, and documentation (Maritime security IDs where applicable).
- Conduct physical searches of personnel, belongings, and vehicles in accordance with site level protocols.
Surveillance & Patrols
- Perform regular foot and mobile patrols across docks, quays, warehouses, perimeters, and vessel berthing areas.
- Monitor CCTV feeds, alarm systems, and electronic access gates to detect suspicious activity promptly.
- Ensure clear physical barriers and verify that gates, fences, and restricted zones remain secure.
Maritime & Safety Compliance
- Enforce security regulations adhering to the Maritime Security Code, Coast Guard / Port Authority requirements, and company policies.
- Respond immediately to security breaches, fire alarms, medical emergencies, or hazardous material incidents.
Incident Reporting & Administration
- Maintain detailed shift logs,
visitor registries, and vehicle entry reports.
- Prepare transparent, concise incident reports detailing any security breaches, safety hazards, or equipment malfunctions.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of experience in security, maritime operations, military, or law enforcement preferred.
- Certifications & Licenses:
- Active Security Guard License.
- Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC).
- First Aid / CPR / AED certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days).
Key Skills & Capabilities
- Strong situational awareness and sharp attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to remain calm, authoritative, and decisive under high-stress or emergency situations.
- Physical ability to stand or walk for extended periods, work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Environment: Outdoor maritime port environment, exposed to coastal weather elements (wind, rain, heat, cold) and high-noise zones near heavy equipment/cranes.
- Schedule: Must be available to work flexible hours, including overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays.
