The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Family Services team on a fixed-term basis until the 30 June 2028. This role provides high-level administrative and operational support across the broader program, with a particular focus on coordinating the Family Services Group Work portfolio. This includes supporting registrations, maintaining accurate records, contributing to reporting requirements, liaising with referred families where required, and helping ensure groupwork programs run smoothly and effectively.

The role also plays an important part in Family Life’s place-based approach across the Bayside/Peninsula region. Working alongside the Families and Communities team and the Creating Capable Communities team, the Family Services Support Practitioner supports community engagement activities that improve accessibility, participation and connection for local families. Embedded within community settings, the role helps promote Family Life’s evidence-based groupwork programs and broader supports, while nurturing community connection, belonging and warm referral pathways.

This position is based across the Sandringham and Frankston Family Life Service Centres and other place-based locations as required on Bunurong Land. It is well suited to someone who is highly organised, confident working with data and systems, and passionate about supporting families through strong administration, relationship-building and community connection.

Key Responsibility Areas

The key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Provide high-level administrative support to internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate day-to-day operations for the Family Services Group Work portfolio, including client registrations, administration and reporting through the Client Management System.
- Gather, analyse and collate program data for quarterly departmental reporting, including generating accurate reports, maintaining strong attention to detail and using relevant computer databases effectively.
- Support the Family Services team with administrative tasks such as brokerage documentation, Our Village orders and other duties as directed.
- Contribute to Family Life’s place-based approach through direct community engagement that improves accessibility, participation and support for local families.




- Work alongside the Creating Capable Communities team to develop and maintain professional and support networks that enable warm referrals and smooth connection to activities and supports, including direct community engagement through activities such as ‘Coffee and Chat’.

- Assist with the planning and delivery of relevant projects as directed by line management.
- Support the CSnet Champion with group work-related training and development for the broader team.
- Engage in regular management supervision with the Team Leader to support professional development.
- Participate in professional development, network meetings, team meetings and supervision as directed.
- Collect, record and maintain documentation to required quality standards, demonstrating service impact and effectiveness in line with legislation, organisational standards and program contracts.
- Apply a continuous improvement lens to strengthen service delivery processes and the broader service system, working with leadership to implement agreed improvements.

We are looking for a degree qualified (Community Services, Social Work or similar) and skilled individual, who embodies the Family Life Way principles. Passionate about supporting at-risk families from within a lens of continuous improvement, you will ideally have experience working within community services/NFP (or have a desire to gain this experience). With highly developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, you aim to provide a positive experience for the families we support, through your dedicated contribution to the overall functionality of the Families & Community Program.
