The Role

As a Process Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in the design and delivery of Aquatec’s process engineering solutions across complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects. You will take ownership of detailed process designs, calculations and documentation that ensure every project meets Australian standards, water authority specifications and client expectations.

This role offers full exposure from concept design through to commissioning. You will collaborate with design engineers, project managers and our broader delivery teams to create safe, compliant and efficient process solutions that drive real community benefit. You will also mentor junior engineers,



lead design reviews and HAZOP workshops and contribute to continuous improvement and innovation within the design function.

Key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

- Develop and review process flow diagrams (PFDs) and P&IDs; for water and wastewater systems.

- Perform process design calculations including line and equipment sizing, mass and energy balances and pressure drop analysis.

- Prepare process deliverables such as design reports, datasheets, functional descriptions, commissioning procedures and operating manuals.

- Participate in and lead design reviews, Safety in Design and HAZOP workshops.

- Collaborate across mechanical, electrical and civil disciplines to ensure integrated design outcomes.

- Support project delivery from design through commissioning, providing troubleshooting and process optimisation input.

- Contribute to proposals and bids through technical input, design concepts and client liaison.

- Maintain and enhance Aquatec’s design tools, standards and process calculation templates.

- Coach and mentor junior process and mechanical engineers to build technical capability and collaboration.

About You

You are a technically skilled and detail oriented Process Engineer who thrives on delivering compliant, cutting-edge and high-quality designs within the water and wastewater sector. With strong expertise in process systems, chemical dosing, pumping and odour control, you combine analytical precision with practical, real world problem-solving.





Your collaborative approach and ability to translate complex technical concepts into efficient, buildable designs make you a trusted contributor across both design and project delivery. You’re passionate about technical excellence, process innovation and building sustainable infrastructure that supports the future of water management.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Degree qualifications in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.

- Significant experience in process design for water and wastewater infrastructure.

- Proven ability in process modelling, equipment sizing and process documentation.

- Demonstrated experience preparing design reports, functional descriptions and commissioning plans.

- Strong knowledge of water and wastewater process equipment including pumps, valves, chemical dosing and odour control systems.

- Familiarity with Australian Standards, water authority specifications, and D&C; delivery models.

- Competency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Visio and AutoCAD.

- Excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects.

- A commitment to continuous improvement, safety and innovation in process design.
