We're working exclusively with a growing Perth-based technology solutions provider to recruit a Lead Project Engineer.

This is a senior, hands-on position focused on the design and implementation of complex Microsoft cloud, infrastructure, migration and security projects. You'll take technical ownership from discovery and requirements gathering through to solution design, implementation, cutover and handover.

The business is technically led and outcome-focused, with a strong emphasis on developing fit-for-purpose solutions rather than taking a sales-first approach. As it continues to grow and mature, this role will also provide technical leadership and mentoring across the wider engineering team.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

* Leading the technical delivery of multiple concurrent client projects
* Designing and implementing Microsoft 365, infrastructure and security solutions
* Delivering tenant-to-tenant, Google Workspace-to-Microsoft 365 and Exchange-to-Microsoft 365 migrations
* Leading discovery sessions, technical workshops and requirements-gathering activities
* Developing solution designs, scopes of work and implementation plans
* Coordinating migration activities, infrastructure changes and technical cutovers
* Managing technical risks, dependencies and project deliverables
* Working closely with Project Managers, clients and third-party vendors
* Producing high-quality as-built documentation, runbooks and handover guides
* Mentoring engineers and providing technical guidance across the team
* Troubleshooting complex issues across cloud, infrastructure and networking environments

* Microsoft 365, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive
* Microsoft Intune and Entra ID
* Microsoft Defender, Purview, DLP, retention and data classification
* Microsoft Copilot and emerging AI capabilities




* Windows Server and Hyper-V
* Storage, backup and disaster recovery platforms
* Firewalls, network segmentation, routing, VPNs and cloud connectivity
* Sophos, Veeam, Exclaimer and cloud backup technologies

About You

You'll be an experienced Project Engineer, Technical Consultant or Senior Infrastructure Engineer with a strong record of designing and delivering solutions within client-facing environments.

You will bring:

* Strong hands-on Microsoft 365 project experience
* Proven experience delivering complex Microsoft 365 migrations
* Experience designing and implementing Windows Server, Hyper-V, storage, backup and disaster recovery solutions
* Strong networking and security fundamentals
* Knowledge of Microsoft security, governance and compliance technologies
* The ability to own technical delivery from discovery through to handover
* Solid documentation skills across solution designs, scopes of work, as-builts and runbooks
* Experience coordinating vendors, cutovers and infrastructure changes
* Confident client-facing communication and workshop facilitation skills
* The ability to mentor other engineers while remaining hands-on

Microsoft certifications across Microsoft 365, Azure, Security, Intune or Purview would be highly regarded. Experience within an MSP, technology consultancy or regulated client environment would also be beneficial.
