We’re partnering with a leading enterprise organisation to find a Senior Java Engineer with experience designing and building test automation frameworks . This is not a traditional automation testing role. We’re looking for someone with a strong software engineering background who has built or significantly enhanced automation frameworks, rather than simply using them to write automated tests.
Working within a cooperative Agile team, you’ll be responsible for extending and enhancing an existing Java-based automation framework, developing reusable automation components, and enabling high-quality software delivery across complex enterprise applications.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop and enhance Java-based test automation frameworks
Build reusable automation components and Cucumber templates
Develop automation across both UI and API layers
Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines
Create and maintain automated test code and review test execution results
Collaborate with software engineers,
testers and business stakeholders in an Agile environment
Contribute to continuous improvement of automation frameworks and engineering practices
Skills & Experience Essential
Strong commercial experience with Java
Proven experience building or enhancing test automation frameworks from scratch
Experience with Selenium and/or Playwright
Experience with Cucumber BDD
Experience using JUnit and/or TestNG
Experience working with CI/CD tools
Experience using Git or similar version control tools
Experience working within structured System and System Integration Testing settings
Robust technical analysis and automated test design skills
Experience creating and maintaining automated test code and analysing test results
Experience testing both UI and API applications
SQL and basic database knowledge
Experience working within Agile, cross-functional teams
Desirable
Experience with SpecFlow
Exposure to non-functional testing, including performance and load testing
Capital Markets experience
