Obsolescence Technician role at Thales – part of the VTS business’s PRV team, focused on the design, manufacture, delivery and support of protected mobility vehicles. The role may be based in Eagle Farm, Brisbane, or at the Bendigo site.

Responsibilities
Proactive obsolescence management via notifications.
Perform analysis and prepare summaries for review.
Conduct life‑cycle tracking, monitor inventory and bill of materials to forecast obsolescence.
Perform fit, form, functional assessments including assessment of alternative sourcing and current design implications.
Evaluate and document impacts on support system and availability; initiate engineering change requests.
Ensure solution options comply with regulatory, safety and environmental requirements.
Engage with customers to understand needs and gather feedback.
Engage with internal stakeholders to collate data inputs for informed decision making such as lifetime buy assessments and cost analysis mitigation options.

Ability to manage time, priorities and adapt effectively in a dynamic environment.
Effective communication skills, including negotiation, education and influencing stakeholders.
Experience with issue management systems (e.g., Jira), document management and workflow tools.
Eligibility for Defence Security Clearance and ability to obtain ITAR clearance.
Working knowledge of Defence industry processes (advantageous).
Relevant technical or trade qualification (e.g., electronics, mechanical or equivalent experience).
