Role Description This full-time Senior Software Engineer role is based in Melbourne, VIC and follows a hybrid work model, combining on-site collaboration with flexibility to work from home.

The Senior Software

Engineer will design, build, and maintain backend services that power Runconvert’s file conversion platform and API infrastructure. Day-to-day responsibilities include writing clean, productive code, reviewing code from peers, implementing scalable architectures, and optimizing performance and reliability for high-throughput workflows. The role involves collaborating with product and engineering teams to plan features, troubleshoot production issues, improve developer experience for customers, and contribute to technical documentation and best practices.



The engineer will also mentor other team members, participate in technical decision-making, and help maintain a secure, robust workplace for customer integrations.

Qualifications
Strong foundation in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and systems design.
Proficiency in Software Development and Programming, with experience delivering production-quality services.
Hands-on expertise in Back-End Web Development, building APIs and working with server-side frameworks.
Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and their practical application.
Experience designing scalable, reliable distributed systems and working with cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Familiarity with RESTful APIs, microservices, and CI/CD pipelines.
Comfort working with relational and/or NoSQL databases and optimizing queries and data models.
Ability to debug complex issues, write tests, and maintain high code quality standards.
Effective communication skills and experience collaborating within cross-functional teams.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
