Responsibilities
Prepare, cook, and present a wide variety of Indian dishes in accordance with established recipes, quality standards and customer requirements.
Prepare ingredients, portion food and ensure meals are presented consistently and served within required timeframes.
Assist with planning menus and contribute to the development of current dishes and seasonal specials.
Monitor the quality, freshness and presentation of food throughout preparation and service.
Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements at all times.
Organise and coordinate daily food preparation to support effective kitchen operations during service.
Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering supplies, receive deliveries and ensure proper stock rotation and storage.
Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and report any maintenance issues.
Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to maintain high standards of food quality and efficient service.
Provide guidance and support to junior kitchen staff and assist with training as required.
Minimise food wastage through effective portion control and proper storage practices.
Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen in accordance with food safety standards.
Qualifications
Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or Diploma of Hospitality Management (or equivalent qualification).
At least one year of experience in a commercial kitchen.
Knowledge and experience in preparing Indian cuisine will be highly regarded.
Positive knowledge of food preparation techniques and food safety practices.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards.
Reliable, organised and able to work effectively as part of a team.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
