Position Overview
The Plant and Equipment Manager is responsible for the effective management, maintenance, and utilisation of all company-owned and hired plant and equipment. This role ensures that machinery and equipment are protected, reliable, compliant with legislative requirements, and available to meet operational needs across construction, labour hire, mining, civil, and haulage projects. The Manager plays a key role in asset lifecycle management, fleet optimisation, and building solid relationships with internal teams, external suppliers, and clients.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain an up-to-date register of all plant, vehicles, and equipment.
Oversee allocation and deployment of equipment to projects and sites.
Ensure equipment is used in accordance with company policies and manufacturer guidelines.
Coordinate equipment hire, both internal allocation and external suppliers.
Oversee the daily operations of the hire fleet, ensuring effective utilisation and minimal downtime.
Monitor equipment use through GPS/telemetry systems and hire tracking software.
Maintenance & Compliance
Schedule and manage routine servicing, inspections, and repairs of equipment.
Ensure all plant complies with relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards (e.g., ISO, Chain of Responsibility, site-specific requirements).
Maintain accurate maintenance records, service logs, pre-start checks, and defect reports.
Liaise with workshop teams, mechanics, and third-party service providers as required.
Asset Management
Support the acquisition, disposal, and replacement of plant and equipment in line with operational and budgetary requirements.
Conduct asset audits and ensure all equipment is tagged, tracked, and registered correctly.
Monitor equipment performance, downtime, and usage trends to inform asset
