The overall scope of the Workshop Technician position is to carry out service and repairs to customer and company‑owned Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWP), Telehandlers, and Lighting Towers in the workshop and in the field when requested.
Responsibilities
Evaluating performance of equipment
Inspecting designs and finished products for compliance with specifications
Installing, testing, servicing, repairing, and modifying electronic, mechanical, and hydraulic equipment and machines. May work with other types of equipment on occasion such as hydraulic hoses, small diesel engines, etc.
Conducting pre‑delivery inspections and assessing machines to ensure they are in valuable working order
Conducting repairs and maintenance of customer and JLG‑owned MEWP, Lighting Towers, and Telehandlers
Assisting with the training and supervision of apprentices
Abiding by specific site instructions including Workplace Health & Safety and Environmental policies
Maintaining a clean and tidy workspace and ensuring all tools are in valuable working order
Completing all appropriate paperwork and inspection forms required by ANZ Standards and also by customer and/or site requirements
Conducting monthly and annual inspections of MEWP in accordance with JLG and ANZ industry standards
Participating in pre‑start meetings and toolbox talks
Generating sales and service leads where possible and collaborating with the team
Maintaining personal retail labour utilisation rates as per target (if applicable)
Performing general ad‑hoc duties as required
Minimum Qualifications
Previous experience in a similar role – experience with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical work advantageous
Trade qualification in elevating work platform technology, heavy vehicle, diesel, automotive, auto‑electrical, or related field
Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal
Proficiency in language, literacy, and numeracy, including the ability to write job notes, read safety information, and understand basic numeracy such as time, part numbers, and quantities
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
