The Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA) is the Australian Government's primary authority on radiation protection and nuclear safety. Section overview The Finance section is responsible for ARPANSA's financial reporting, financial service operations, travel management and procurement functions and for developing and maintaining robust financial systems that provide high-quality financial information that supports the Agency's strategic objectives. The section ensures the accuracy of the Agency's official accounting records; produces timely financial performance reports; manages internal controls to mitigate risk; and safeguards the Agency's assets.

Primary purpose of the role

ARPANSA is seeking a agile individual to lead a small Finance team responsible for all aspects of the agency's financial operations including the internal control environment,



preparation of monthly reports and transactions for use by branch and office heads and Government, the preparation of annual financial statements and annual budget.

The occupant will ensure that the Finance section delivers best practice service including debtor collection, balance sheet reconciliations, preparation of tax returns (GST and FBT), asset and cash flow management. In this role, the incumbent will provide support to both the internal and external auditors as required.

The role is accountable for the development and maintenance of the Finance TechnologyOne system, working with the Finance Systems Accountant, and reporting into the Chief Financial Officer. Other responsibilities include the review of relevant strategic activities and major projects, the monitoring of changes to government financial policy, guidelines and accounting standards and the provision of high-level advice to the Chief Financial Officer is also an key aspect of this role.
