The Bull & Barley Inn, a family‑owned hotel offering bistro meals and bar service in Cambooya, Queensland, is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our kitchen team on a full‑time basis.

About the Role

The Sous Chef will support the Head Chef in the daily operation of a busy commercial kitchen, ensuring high‑quality food preparation, consistency, and compliance with food safety standards. The role includes supervising kitchen staff, coordinating service, and contributing to menu development.

Key Responsibilities
Prepare, cook, and present menu items to a high standard
Assist with menu planning, specials, and recipe development
Supervise and train kitchen staff
Maintain food quality, portion control, and presentation standards
Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations
Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering, and manage wastage
Coordinate service during busy periods




Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen workplace

Skills & Experience Required
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a commercial kitchen
Experience supervising kitchen staff
Strong cooking skills across a variety of dishes
Knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP)
Ability to work under pressure in a rapid‑paced setting
Solid communication and teamwork skills
Relevant culinary qualifications (highly regarded)
