About the Role
Genuine Disability Services is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and reliable Female Disability Support Worker to provide one-on-one support to a participant living with complex mental health disorders. This role requires someone who is patient, adaptable, and confident in supporting individuals to achieve their goals while promoting independence, dignity, and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
Provide one-on-one support to a participant with mental health disorders.
Support the participant to safely access the community, including social outings and recreational activities.
Transport and accompany the participant to medical, allied health, and other appointments.
Assist with household tasks, including light cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, and maintaining a secure and tidy home environment.
Encourage independence and participation in daily living activities.
Support the participant to achieve their NDIS goals through meaningful engagement and capacity building.
Monitor the participant's wellbeing and respond appropriately to changes in presentation.
Maintain accurate case notes and complete all required documentation.
Work collaboratively with family members, allied health specialists, and the broader support team.
Essential Requirements
Previous experience supporting individuals living with mental health disorders.
Demonstrated understanding of recovery-oriented and trauma-informed support practices.
Experience working within the NDIS.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional in challenging situations.
Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Mental Health, Disability, Community Services, or a related qualification.
Current Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain if required).
Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
Current Australian Driver's Licence and reliable, fully insured vehicle.
NDIS Worker Orientation Module completed.
Full working rights in Australia.
