Bar Local Drop is a premium wine bar and restaurant located in Collingwood, Melbourne. With one of Australia's most exciting wine lists featuring more than 500 wines from around the world, our focus is on exceptional food, genuine hospitality and creating memorable dining experiences.

Our kitchen produces seasonal modern Australian cuisine with European influences, using high-quality produce and a constantly evolving menu designed to complement our extensive wine program.

As our business continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our leadership team.

The Role

This is a full time leadership position working closely with the Head Chef to oversee the daily operation of the kitchen.

The successful applicant will be responsible for:
Assisting with the day-to-day management of kitchen operations
Supervising and mentoring chefs, apprentices and kitchen staff
Preparing and cooking high-quality dishes to a consistently high standard
Assisting with seasonal menu development and recipe creation




Managing food preparation and service during busy lunch and dinner services
Monitoring food quality, presentation and consistency
Managing stock ordering, stock rotation and inventory control
Ensuring compliance with food safety, HACCP and OH&S; requirements
Controlling food costs and reducing waste
Training new kitchen staff and maintaining high performance standards
Working closely with front-of-house management to deliver exceptional guest experiences
Maintaining cleanliness and organisation throughout all kitchen areas

Skills required for the role:
Relevant qualification and at least 12 months of full time relevant experience
Solid leadership and team management skills
Experience in menu planning and cost control
Excellent communication skills

Pay: $80,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
