Northern Rivers region, NSW
Osborne Richardson is assisting our fantastic client, a local Council in the Northern Rivers region, to find a Procurement Officer to join their Fleet and Procurement team on a term contract through to June 2027, full time (70 hour fortnight). The Council covers a lot of ground, from the coast at Evans Head through to the foothills of the Outstanding Dividing Range, and is well regarded in the region, having picked up multiple awards over the years including Outstanding Employer of the Year and Large Employer of the Year. It's known locally for a genuinely supportive, down to earth culture.
About the role

Ensure adherence to procurement policy and procedures across all goods and services procured through Council stores
Coordinate biannual stocktake activities, ensuring physical quantities match reported quantities in the TechOne system
Liaise with peak procurement bodies including Local Government Procurement,
Regional Procurement and Procurement Australia to leverage lower cost, more sustainable and lower risk procurement outcomes
Work closely with Coordinators to advise on lead times for goods, and flag any issues or changes with suppliers and contracts
Support all Council staff with procurement processes, including Tenders, RFQs and EOIs, and the use of online procurement tools
Deliver training and guidance to staff on procurement procedures, probity and risk reduction, including onboarding current staff into procurement processes
Ensure contractor compliance with contract terms relating to incoming goods for Council stores
Help maintain secure, well run operations across the Council's works depots, including managing supply of PPE to staff
About you
Certificate IV in Procurement (or equivalent), or 4 years experience in a similar environment
Strong communicator, comfortable working autonomously and within a small team
Local Government tendering and procurement experience is a bonus, as is budget development and administration experience.
