A growing non-bank lender is looking for an experienced Senior Credit Manager to join their team in Melbourne. This is a key role for someone who understands residential lending inside and out, with a robust track record in the non-bank lending space.
About the Role
You'll be responsible for credit assessment, risk management, and decisioning across the residential lending portfolio, working closely with sales, operations, and senior leadership to ensure sound, commercially balanced credit outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Assess and approve residential lending applications within delegated authority
Review complex credit submissions and provide clear, well-reasoned recommendations
Manage credit risk across the residential loan book, identifying and mitigating exposure
Develop and refine credit policy, procedures, and lending guidelines
Mentor and support credit and lending team members
Liaise with brokers, introducers, and internal stakeholders on complex deals
Monitor portfolio performance and report on credit quality and trends
Ensure compliance with responsible lending obligations and internal risk frameworks
What We're Looking For
Minimum 5 years' experience in residential lending, with direct exposure to the non-bank / private lending sector
Strong credit assessment and risk analysis skills, including complex and non-conforming deals
Sound understanding of responsible lending obligations and regulatory requirements
Excellent judgement, attention to detail, and ability to work autonomously
Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain credit decisions explicit to brokers and stakeholders
Experience mentoring or leading junior credit staff (highly regarded)
