We are currently seeking a TO2 Biosecurity Officer (Compliance). The experienced candidate will form part of a dedicated team until June 2027, with the possibility of extending, based in Cairns.
Your new role
As the TO2 Biosecurity Officer (Compliance), you will assist the team in achieving effective and effective delivery of operational goals under direct guidance and in accordance with standard operating procedures.
As part of this chance, your key tasks and responsibilities will be the following:
Undertaking tasks contributing to the protection of Queensland’s biosecurity system by assisting stakeholders to manage biosecurity risks associated with diseases, pests and invasive species.
Conducting field-based monitoring, surveillance, auditing and treatment activities.
Gathering and recording data, evidence collection for investigations, and assisting stakeholders to achieve legislative compliance.
Responding to general enquiries and providing fundamental technical information, escalating complex queries when required.
Supporting effective teamwork and contributing positively to group tasks.
What you’ll need to succeed
To be successful, you will have a current unrestricted “C” Class Driving Licence.
A Diploma in a related field from a recognised tertiary institution.
Practical experience or ability to quickly acquire skills in using smart mobile devices and GPS.
Highly desirable – First Aid Certificate.
Agricultural Chemicals Distribution Control (ACDC) Licence.
Certificate IV in Government (Statutory Compliance) or Compliance and Risk Management.
