Position Title: Senior WHS Advisor, Essential Services
Location:Perth/Welshpool with regular travel to the Ngaanyatjarra Lands, WA
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior WHS Advisor, Essential Services to lead workplace health, safety and compliance across our remote essential services operations.
Working closely with the Director of Safety and Essential Services leadership, you will provide expert WHS advice while ensuring compliance across power generation, electricity distribution, water and wastewater operations.
You will play a key role in maintaining safe systems of work, supporting regulatory compliance, leading investigations, and fostering a strong safety culture across metropolitan and remote operations.
Key Responsibilities
Lead WHS and compliance activities across power, water and wastewater operations.
Ensure compliance with Horizon Power, Water Corporation and relevant WHS legislation, standards and licence requirements.
Conduct site inspections, audits, risk assessments and behavioural safety observations.
Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Support contractor management, permit-to-work systems, SWMS and JHA compliance.
Develop, review and maintain WHS policies, procedures and Safety Management System documentation.
Coordinate compliance records, audit readiness and regulatory reporting.
Provide coaching, advice and safety leadership to managers, employees and contractors.
Support emergency preparedness and continuous improvement initiatives across Essential Services.
About You
You are an experienced WHS professional who enjoys working in operational environments and building robust relationships with frontline teams.
You have excellent knowledge of workplace safety legislation and ideally understand the unique challenges of utilities and remote infrastructure operations.
Your experience will include:
Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or equivalent).
Demonstrated experience in a senior WHS or safety advisory role.




Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management and incident investigation.
Experience working within utilities, essential services, construction or infrastructure environments.
Knowledge of electricity and/or water industry standards, including Horizon Power and Water Corporation requirements (highly regarded).
Excellent communication, coaching and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to influence positive safety behaviours across diverse teams.
Current Australian Driver's Licence.
Willingness to travel regularly to remote Ngaanyatjarra communities and metropolitan worksites.
Desirable
Trade or technical qualification in electrical, water or related industries.
Experience working in remote or regional environments.
Experience with contractor management and permit-to-work systems.
Lead Auditor or other WHS auditing qualifications
