BACKGROUND & PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Matildas team doctor will provide medical services to the players and staff of the women's Senior National Team.

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support the performance of our senior women's National Team in preparation for and during competitions.

They will perform all Medical tasks, as outlined in the Roles and Responsibilities for the Team Doctor, providing general medical and emergency support for National Team players and staff during Matildas camps and tournaments and support the management of Matildas players on the squad monitoring list.

The role includes preparation and attendance at all scheduled assemblies including camps, tours and/or competitions throughout the calendar year or as directed by Football Australia.





ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary performance health team to advise on and support management of player health promotion and injury/illness management

Player medical screening and pre-camp clearance.

Review Cardiac screening and ensure compliance prior to camps as part of player medical clearance

Provide medical care and advice to players and staff whilst in camp or on tour.

Provide emergency side of pitch and on-field treatment of players.

Attend medical meetings leading into and during camps.

Securely store all medical related data collected on players on Football Australia's athlete management system and always maintain confidentiality of this data.

Communicate with Lead Performance Health, other medical team members, Head Coach and other coaching staff, Team Manager and Chief Medical Officer as needed.

Provide advice and assist in medical illness or injury prevention strategies.

Review the FA Medical Manual as provided by Chief Medical Officer and complete the pre-camp and post-camp duties and adhere to the duties/tasks specified in the manual.

Adherent to FA Medical policies and protocols.

Communicate with players' club medical staff as needed and in line with Matildas Performance Health team

Liaising with the National Teams Equipment Manager, maintain security and contents of medication and emergency medical bag. Maintain inventory stock of medical bag for re-stocking.





Collectively work with other team members to achieve team's overall goals and objectives.

Provide a post-camp report to Chief Medical Officer and General Manager of Performance.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE

Emergency Medicine

Sports Medicine

Experience working in a High-Performance setting and making clear and accurate medical decisions under high pressure situations

Experience working with athletic teams and knowledge of their culture.

Experience in working with groups of athletes.

Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary High-Performance team

Ability to work as a member of a team in a High-Performance environment and create positive influence in the team values and goals.

Represent Football Australia with integrity and in an honest, ethical and professional manner.

Maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Understanding and respectful of other cultures.

Excellent verbal communication with athletes and coaches

Ability to solve various problems efficiently and effectively with a positive outcome or solution.

Maintain calmness when under pressure or placed in a high-risk situation.

Experience in Football (Desirable)

Experience in a Skilled Club or with another National Sporting Organisation (Desirable)

Experience working with female athletes (Desirable)

QUALIFICATIONS

Medical degree

Member of the College of Sports Physicians

Advanced Emergency Care/CPR

Sport and Exercise Medicine Specialist or registrar (Desirable)

Sports Doctor · Emergency Physician (Desirable)

FIFA Diploma in Football Medicine (Desirable)

Member of Sports Medicine Australia (Desirable)
