This is a hands‐on leadership role where no two days are the same.
You'll coordinate preventative and reactive maintenance programs, supervise internal maintenance staff, manage external contractors and ensure the campus operates safely, efficiently and to a consistently high standard.
You'll also play an important role in supporting the University's event operations, coordinating the set‐up of spaces for functions and major events.
This includes planning and directing internal teams as well as engaging and managing specialist contractors for specific services.
Reporting to the Operations Manager,

you'll balance multiple priorities across a complex, multi‐building environment where excellent planning, strong communication and sound operational judgement are essential.
Core Responsibilities:
Lead, coach and develop an in‐house team of maintenance officers, promoting a culture of safety, accountability and customer service.
Coordinate preventative planned and reactive maintenance activities across a diverse campus environment.
Prioritise and allocate maintenance requests, ensuring work is completed efficiently and service levels are maintained.
Manage on‐site contractors, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time and in accordance with University standards.
Coordinate operational support for University events, including the scheduling of internal resources and external contractors for infrastructure such as marquees, furniture and venue set‐ups.
Monitor workloads, resolve operational issues and adjust priorities in response to changing business needs.
Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, risk management requirements and maintenance best practice.
Identify opportunities to improve maintenance processes, operational efficiency and service delivery.
About the Person:
You are an experienced facilities, maintenance or operations leader who enjoys working in a dynamic workplace where every day is different.
Having successfully led maintenance teams within a large, complex organisation, you will understand how to balance preventative maintenance, day‐to‐day operational demands, contractor management and customer service.
You are equally comfortable planning scheduled works,

responding to unexpected issues and coordinating operational support for events.
You will ideally bring experience from environments such as a university, hospital, hotel, convention centre, airport, large commercial precinct or other multi‐building facility where operational excellence is critical.
You'll have:
Demonstrated experience leading maintenance or operations teams within a complex, multi‐site or multi‐building environment.
Strong experience coordinating preventative and reactive maintenance programs.
Proven experience managing contractors and service providers to deliver safe, high‐quality outcomes.
Experience coordinating operational activities and supporting events or large‐scale venue operations.
Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
Sound knowledge of maintenance practices, WHS legislation and risk management.
Qualifications or significant experience in facilities management, maintenance, building services or a related discipline.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience preparing reports and operational documentation.
Current Class C Driver Licence.
