About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and culturally responsiveMulticultural Liaison Officer (MLO)to join our multidisciplinaryRefugee Health Team (RHT)based in Midland.
You will join a supportive, multidisciplinary team committed to culturally protected, equitable and high-quality community care.
As a Multicultural Liaison Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting newly arrived refugee families by providing psychosocial support, health system navigation, and culturally informed advocacy.
Working closely with nursing and multidisciplinary teams, you will help ensure clients receive sensitive, accessible, equitable, and culturally appropriate care, while contributing to improved engagement and health outcomes in line with a primary health care approach.
In this role, you will act as a bridge between refugee communities, health services, government agencies, and community organisations.
You will support clients to navigate the health system and strengthen their understanding of health rights, including the use of interpreters to support health literacy and improve access to appropriate services.
You will also assist clients and families to express their cultural and social needs in clinical and multidisciplinary settings, including supporting key transitions such as school progression.
The role requires the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within the multidisciplinary RHT and the broader Community Health Services.
Key responsibilities include:
Acting as a link between refugee communities, Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS), government agencies,



and community organisations.
Advocating for effective communication between clients, families, and health service staff.
Support engagement with external services and organisations, including childcare services, disability supports (NDIS), food security services, and community-based NGOs.
Assisting families with transport options, including public transport navigation and health-related transport support (within policy guidelines).
Supporting engagement with Child Health service, Child Development Services (CDS) , Dental services and other allied health services to improve understanding and participation in care plans.
Assist with school engagement and transitions, including movement from Intensive English Centres to mainstream schooling.
Collaborating with the CAHS Consumer Engagement Team to support multicultural engagement initiatives.
Maintaining accurate and confidential client records in accordance with service requirements.

Our teams provide health and developmental assessments, early intervention and health promotion services for children and young people across the Perth metropolitan area.




These services delivered at community health centres, schools, homes and through telehealth appointments with a focus on child health, growth and development, behaviour, immunisation and family support.
