Job Description
The Ambulance Employees Association (AEA) is the trade union representing workers in the ambulance industry in South Australia.
We are a small team of paramedics, lawyers and administration professionals who work closely to advance the interests of our members across all roles in the ambulance service and the profession of paramedicine in South Australia.
THE ROLE
The role involves providing advice and representation for AEA members in relation to a range of industrial and workplace matters including enterprise bargaining, workers compensation, work health and safety, industrial conditions and entitlements, AHPRA, superannuation and disciplinary proceedings, and includes advocacy through dispute resolution processes and in the South Australian Employment Tribunal.
The role also involves contributing to the organising and industrial strategy of the AEA.
We are looking for someone who:
Is appropriately qualified and admitted to practice law in South Australia.
Holds a current South Australian practicing certificate.
Has experience working in industrial, employment, personal injury, and/or work injury law as a lawyer, representative or advocate.
Has a solid understanding of South Australian industrial relations legislation.
Has outstanding communication and analytical skills and demonstrates a high level of proactivity, initiative and organisation.
Has experience in providing advice and communication with workers with serious injuries.
Is interested in working collaboratively and supportively as a team while managing an individual case load.
Is willing to travel occasionally for work within the state.
Has an interest in development of the union's industrial strategy.
Is committed to union values, the union movement and achieving positive outcomes for AEA members.
