Position Summary
Full Time Three (3) Year Fixed Term Opportunity.
Located on Camden Campus at the Sydney School of Veterinary Science in The University of Sydney.
Base Salary HEO 8/9 (38 hours), $142,344 p.a. - $174,177 p.a. + 17% superannuation + generous loading when registered as a specialist + premium loading for after hours and weekend shifts.
Responsibilities
provide high quality veterinary reproductive services to primarily equine clientele, with some livestock and companion animal practice as necessary
look to expand the equine theriogenology caseload alongside our existing theriogenologist in Camden. This may include further development of an Assisted Reproduction Laboratory with Embryo Transfer, OPU and ICSI
work alongside and assist with training of technical staff within the existing theriogenology service
provide clinical teaching and support, including but not limited to tutorials, lectures, and practical instruction to post‐graduate veterinary students in the DVM
co‐ordinate and lead daily theriogenology activities for large animals
provide support to the post‐graduate interns and registrars as they relate to theriogenology
manage theriogenology billing practices to ensure services are correctly charged
take a senior leadership role within the units and develop strategies with the Academic Head of Livestock and Equine, and hospital executive to retain, promote and grow the client‐base of these services
participate actively in the advancement and dissemination of knowledge through self‐instruction and continuing education by attending clinical rounds and journal club and by encouraging others to attend
contribute to the dissemination of research results by participating in the writing of scientific papers/reports and making conference presentations
undertake workshops or courses in development of teaching and assessment skills




participate and share in weekend consultation and treatment duties, including after‐hours
collaborate with academics and researchers within the school to contribute to thought‐provoking and clinically relevant research
Qualifications
a veterinary degree registerable in NSW
registration with the AVBC as a Specialist in Animal Reproduction (Theriogenology) for the specialist role
membership status with the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists or similar post‐graduate level qualifications in Theriogenology
high clinical competency in provision of primary and second opinion theriogenology services including experience in a multi‐veterinary practice with a high caseload
experience in teaching undergraduate and/or postgraduate veterinary students
leadership skills in clinical team‐management
at least 12 months experience post formal training in theriogenology at Specialist level
expertise in Advanced Assisted Reproductive Techniques
interest in theriogenology clinical services as it pertains to other species (bovine, camelids, small animals, and small ruminants)
