The
Medical and Cancer Services Division
is one of six divisions within the Chief Operations Officer Directorate of Austin Health. The Division's clinical services operate across all three Austin Health campuses and Grampians Health Services (GH) within the Ballarat Regional Integrated Cancer Centre (BRICC) and comprise a complex range of national, state-wide organisational wide and specialty clinical services.

operates across two leading centres – the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre (Heidelberg) and the Ballarat Austin Radiation Oncology Centre (BAROC) in partnership with Grampians Health.
The service delivers
high-quality, multidisciplinary care
with a strong focus on patient-centred outcomes, innovation, and research. Supported by a team of over 170 staff, both sites are equipped with
state-of-the-art technology
, including MRI simulation and MR Linac capability, and continue to expand with significant investment in advanced treatment systems.

About the role
Austin Health is seeking an experienced and strategic Operations Manager to lead the Radiation Oncology service across multiple sites. This senior leadership role is responsible for driving
high-quality, patient-centred care
while optimising service performance, treatment capacity, and key clinical outcomes. Reporting to the Directors of Radiation Oncology (ONJ & BAROC), you will oversee day-to-day operations and shape the
strategic direction
of the service in partnership with clinical and executive leaders.
You will play a pivotal role in delivering




sustainable service improvements
, including enhancing treatment timelines, increasing linear accelerator utilisation, and strengthening patient experience across the network.

Based at Heidelberg, this role requires regular cross-campus engagement to ensure consistent standards and integrated service delivery. We are looking for a
strategic, outcomes-focused leader
with extensive experience in radiation oncology operations and a proven ability to lead complex change in a dynamic healthcare workplace.
Regular day responsibilities
Lead the day-to-day operations of Radiation Oncology services, ensuring safe, efficient and patient-centred care
Drive service improvements to optimise treatment capacity, patient flow, and key performance outcomes
Partner with clinical and executive leaders to deliver strategic initiatives and service development
Oversee workforce, resource planning and financial performance to support sustainable operations
Engage and lead multidisciplinary teams to foster a high-performing, collaborative culture
About you
You will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You'll bring energy and drive to your work, and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.
To be successful in this role, you'll bring with you:




Extensive experience in radiation oncology (or a related discipline), with a strong understanding of contemporary service delivery models and challenges
Relevant experience in a senior healthcare leadership role
Relevant experience in senior operational management
Proven senior leadership experience, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and drive performance and culture
Demonstrated success in financial management, service planning, and delivering operational improvements
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with experience working across clinical, executive, and external partners
Experience leading complex change and improvement initiatives in a healthcare environment
