About Us
At Minelab Electronics, we change people's fortunes by designing the world's best hand‐held metal detector technology. With regional offices across the globe, we supply customers in over 150 countries, ranging from humanitarian organisations to miners and historians. Founded in ****, Minelab is part of the Codan group, an ASX‐listed company headquartered in Adelaide, committed to research, innovation and exceptional support to detectorists worldwide.
About The Role
We are seeking a skilled and hands‐on Manufacturing Test Engineer to design, develop and support the electronic test hardware and systems that underpin our global manufacturing operations. Reporting to the Test Engineering Manager, you will develop test equipment, PCB assemblies and fixtures that ensure products consistently meet the highest standards of quality, reliability and performance. This hardware‐focused engineering role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical, hands‐on work and sees products come to life on the manufacturing floor. LabVIEW experience is desirable; the key strengths are electronics hardware expertise, fault‐finding capability and translating engineering requirements into robust, scalable manufacturing test solutions.
You will engage in full product lifecycle activities, supporting New Product Introduction (NPI), production ramp‐up and continuous enhancement of existing manufacturing test infrastructure. Collaborate with design, manufacturing and quality teams to ensure efficient, reliable and repeatable test processes that support world‐class product delivery. The full‐time, onsite position is based at our Mawson Lakes facility,
with occasional travel to our Malaysian manufacturing site.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop and maintain electronic test hardware, PCB assemblies, jigs and fixtures used within manufacturing test equipment.
Develop automated and manual test solutions for PCBAs, embedded systems and final product assemblies.
Prepare test requirements, test plans and manufacturing test strategies to support NPI through to full‐scale production.
Design schematics and PCB layouts using Altium Designer.
Develop, implement and maintain LabVIEW and Python‐based test applications.
Install, commission, validate and optimise manufacturing test systems, instrumentation, jigs and fixtures.
Analyse manufacturing and test data to verify product quality, performance and process capability.
Provide technical support to manufacturing teams and collaborate with design engineers to resolve product and test‐related issues.
Conduct root cause investigations and implement effective corrective and preventative actions.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance test capability, manufacturing efficiency and throughput.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, including work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and test documentation.
Train technicians and manufacturing personnel in the operation and maintenance of manufacturing test systems and equipment.
About You
You hold a bachelor's degree in Electronics, Mechatronics or a related engineering discipline and have experience designing electronics hardware for manufacturing test environments. You have practical experience with test instrumentation, measurement techniques and automated test development, ideally including LabVIEW. Experience with bed‐of‐nails fixtures, functional testers, PCBA‐level testing, and RF testing and troubleshooting will be highly regarded.
You are a practical and analytical engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems and developing reliable manufacturing test solutions. You can manage competing priorities, communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders and work collaboratively across engineering, manufacturing and quality teams. Your proactive approach, attention to detail and commitment to delivering high‐quality outcomes will enable you to thrive in this role.
This is an outstanding opportunity to take ownership of manufacturing test development, support global NPI activities and make a direct contribution to the performance and quality of Codan's world‐class Metal Detection and RF products.
Benefits and Culture
Our culture is supportive and collaborative. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team where innovation is strongly encouraged. The head office in Mawson Lakes offers a up-to-date facility, free secure onsite parking, easy access via public transport, an onsite subsidised café, gym, basketball and tennis court, game tables, a child‐friendly parenting room, and various staff events to connect across the Codan Group.
