This is a permanent part-time (0.6 FTE) position commencing as soon as possible.
School Overview
At Baler Primary School (PS) we value, celebrate and learn from our multicultural diversity by fostering positive relationships through engaging students, parents, staff and the wider community. We are an independent public school catering for children in Kindergarten to Year 6. Our school community is diverse, with representation from over thirty‐four different cultures. Our school motto, 'a sea of cultures', captures and celebrates our inclusive and culturally respectful approaches to our teaching and learning practices and community interactions.
Our school is located in the Pilbara and is the largest of the four primary schools in the Hedland area. We offer programs in visual arts, physical education, health, music, digital technologies and Indonesian. We also have a highly valued academic enrichment program for children needing a bit more of a challenge.
The Role
The Technical Support Officer maintains the school's Information and Communication Technology (ICT) systems and network, ensuring reliability and sustainability to enhance the learning environment. The successful applicant will provide advice on technical issues and collaborate with administration to maintain and develop the network system. Additionally, they will provide technical support and training to all users throughout the school site on various software applications and provide access to systems and resources.
The successful applicant will ideally have an understanding of Department of Education WA ICT‐based software, systems, processes and structures so they can manage, coordinate, troubleshoot and problem‐solve issues as they arise.



The successful applicant will also have an understanding of Compass and its rollout.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance of information systems and ICT equipment in accordance with the school business needs and Department of Education policies and guidelines. This includes maintaining accurate records of ICT assets and resources and the development, implementation, and monitoring of a replacement plan.
The ability to build strong relationships, communicate effectively and work with a diverse range of people and professionals would be highly advantageous to the role.
Eligibility and Training Requirements
Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start.

Demonstrated verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with staff at all levels.
Demonstrated conceptual and analytical skills, including the ability to develop creative solutions to information technology problems.
Demonstrated ability to install and maintain network systems incorporating the Internet and Electronic Mail.
Demonstrated organisational skills to develop effective administrative practices and the initiative to work with minimum supervision.
