Junior WHSE Advisor (Civil Construction)

The Role
The Junior WHSE (Work Health, Safety & Environment) Advisor will support the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of WHSE systems across projects and operations. Working closely with site teams and leadership, the role focuses on promoting a proactive safety culture and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and company procedures. This position reports directly to the Senior WHSE Advisor.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the implementation and maintenance of WHSE management systems in alignment with company policies and legislative requirements
Support site-based risk assessments, hazard identification, and incident investigations
Conduct routine workplace inspections, audits, and safety observations
Help facilitate WHSE training, inductions, and toolbox talks for employees and contractors
Maintain WHSE documentation, records, and reporting systems
Monitor compliance with WHSE procedures, permits, and safe work practices
Assist in the development and review of Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and Job Safety Analyses (JSA/JSEA)
Participate in incident investigations, ensuring timely reporting and corrective actions
Promote a positive safety culture through engagement and communication with the workforce
Provide general administrative support to the WHSE function as required
Qualifications and Skills
Tertiary qualification or currently studying in Work Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or a related field
Understanding of Australian WHS legislation and standards (desirable)
Solid attention to detail and organisational skills
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Willingness to travel to project sites as required
Construction or mining industry exposure (advantageous)
