About MA Moelis Australia / Corporate Advisory
This role sits within MA Moelis Australia, MA Financial Group's Corporate Advisory division, providing investment banking services and strategic financial advice to clients across mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt capital markets, strategic advisory and capital structure advisory.
Our breadth of sector experience and technical capability spans local and international markets, strengthened by our strategic partnership with Moelis & Company.
The Role
We are seeking an Analyst to join our Equity Capital Markets Syndication team. This is a broad, externally oriented role that combines rigorous transaction execution and financial analysis with direct engagement across corporate clients and institutional investors. The successful candidate will support equity capital markets transactions from origination through marketing, bookbuild, allocation and settlement, while developing market insight and long-term client and investor relationships.
This is not a purely desk-based execution role. The Analyst will be expected to participate actively in client and investor meetings, roadshows and industry events, contribute ideas and market judgement, and build a network across the Australian capital markets community.
Prior investment banking experience is not required, however a passion and curiosity for financial markets will be well regarded.
Key Responsibilities
Support the origination and execution of equity capital markets transactions,
including IPOs, follow-on raisings, placements, entitlement offers and block trades.
Build and maintain relationships with corporate clients and institutional investors, including through client meetings, investor meetings, roadshows and market events.
Assist with investor targeting and syndication strategy by mapping relevant investors, coordinating investor education, capturing market feedback and contributing to bookbuild and allocation analysis.
Prepare high-quality pitchbooks, market updates, board material, transaction documentation and investor presentations, translating complex analysis into clear and persuasive messages.
Build and maintain financial models; undertake company valuations, trading and transaction comparables, scenario analysis and other detailed financial analysis.
Monitor equity markets, investor sentiment, sector themes, valuation trends, fund flows and aftermarket performance, and convert this information into actionable market intelligence for clients and the team.
Coordinate transaction workstreams and process requirements, including timetables, due diligence, prospectus and other process documents, internal approvals, allocations and settlement.
Take ownership of workstreams, anticipate what is required and identify opportunities to improve team processes through data, AI and other digital tools.
Maintain accurate investor, transaction and market databases, including relevant relationship and engagement records.
Work closely with colleagues across Corporate Advisory, Equities and other internal teams, as well as external advisers, to deliver coordinated outcomes for clients.
What We Are Looking For
Highly motivated and proactive, with a strong sense of ownership,
the initiative to move work forward without constant direction and the judgement to escalated issues appropriately.
Strong technical capability, including advanced Excel-based financial modelling and valuation skills, high-quality PowerPoint presentation skills and confidence working with detailed financial and market data.
Proficiency with AI and digital productivity tools, including the ability to design practical workflows that improve the quality, speed and consistency of team output.
Personable and relationship-oriented, with a genuine interest in meeting people, developing a network and building trusted relationships with corporate executives and institutional investors.
Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts succinctly and contribute constructively in meetings.
A genuine interest in equity markets, capital raising and investor behaviour, supported by intellectual curiosity and strong commercial awareness.
High attention to detail, accuracy and organisation, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver consistently under tight deadlines.
Maturity, discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information and interacting with senior stakeholders.
A collaborative, resilient and low-ego approach, with a willingness to support the team while also developing independent views and ideas.
Experience and Background
Investment banking experience is not a prerequisite. We welcome candidates from a range of analytical and client-facing backgrounds, including corporate finance, transaction services, valuations, equity research, funds management, investor relations, consulting, accounting, corporate development and related fields.
A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent practical experience is expected. Demonstrated capability, motivation and cultural fit will be more significant than a specific degree or prior employer.
Applicants must have full working rights in Australia.
