Collections & Legal Recoveries Officer, Team Lead
to join our Sydney-based team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recovery and insolvency professional who enjoys managing complex collections matters, driving portfolio performance, and mentoring team members.
About the Role
As the
Collections & Legal Recoveries Officer, Team Lead
, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of delinquent clients, implementing effective recovery strategies, and maximising realisation outcomes. You will also play a key leadership role within the team, providing guidance on complex matters, supporting process improvements, and ensuring best-practice collections and recovery management.
Working closely with internal stakeholders, legal providers, insolvency practitioners, and clients, you will use your commercial judgement and technical expertise to deliver strong recovery outcomes while managing legal, financial, and reputational risk.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of delinquent commercial lending accounts and ensure all collection activities are conducted in line with company policies and processes.
Develop and implement effective recovery and enforcement strategies to maximise recoveries and minimise losses.
Negotiate payment arrangements, settlements, and workout solutions with clients.
Escalate matters for legal recovery and enforcement where appropriate,



ensuring all actions are accurately documented.
Liaise with external legal firms, insolvency practitioners, mercantile agents, and other recovery specialists.
Review and manage complex and escalated recovery matters, providing guidance and support to team members.
Maintain accurate records and reporting within CRM systems, ensuring all client files are up to date.
Monitor workflow and team performance, ensuring service levels and collection processes are consistently met.
Assist with reporting, portfolio analysis, process improvements, and implementation of best-practice recovery strategies.
Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders including Credit, Relationship Management, and Senior Leadership teams
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
3+ years' experience in commercial lending collections, recoveries, or insolvency, ideally within a non-bank lending environment.
Strong knowledge of commercial lending security structures and enforcement mechanisms.
Experience managing legal recoveries, insolvency processes, and external recovery providers.
Sound commercial judgement and the ability to assess risk and recovery strategies effectively.
Previous leadership, mentoring, or team coordination experience.
Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills.
Solid attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Commerce, Accounting, Law, or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
