As a key regional hub supporting major industry, renewable energy and infrastructure projects, Whyalla continues to play a critical role in South Australia's economic future.Reporting to the General Manager Corporate Service, the Manager Finance & Knowledge Management is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing Finance, Payroll, Procurement, Information Technology and Records Management functions across Council.
This position will play a pivotal role in driving financial sustainability, governance, operational excellence and organisational transformation.Your new roleAs a member of the senior leadership team, you will:Lead and develop multidisciplinary teams across finance, procurement, IT and information management.Drive long-term financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and performance reporting.Provide strategic advice to Council, Executive Leadership and the Audit & Risk Committee.Oversee annual financial statements, rates, assets,



payroll and statutory reporting.Improve procurement strategies, frameworks and value-for-money outcomes.Support technology modernisation initiatives and cyber security governance.Develop and implement effective records and information management strategies.Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and customer-focused service delivery.What you'll need to succeedTo be successful in this position, you will bring:Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.CA or CPA qualification (or near completion).
Ideally experience within Local Government or NFP sectorsDemonstrated experience in financial management, budgeting and strategic planning.Strong commercial acumen and financial analysis capability.Experience leading teams and driving organisational improvement.High-level stakeholder engagement and communication skills.Advanced Excel skills and strong systems capability, including exposure to BI reporting tools such as Power BI.A collaborative leadership style with a focus on governance, accountability and outcomes.What you'll get in returnSenior leadership opportunity with significant organisational influence.Make the move to Whyalla or adaptable hybrid arrangements available to the successful candidate (work three days per week in Whyalla and commute from Adelaide).
