Company DescriptionCathartic Consulting is a boutique psychology practice specializing in Clinical and Forensic Psychology, based in Essendon, VIC.
The team includes two Principal Practitioners with over fifteen years of experience and several psychologists, all registered with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency.
Most team members hold a Doctorate or Masters in Psychology and work across the lifespan with a wide range of clinical presentations.
Services include individual and group interventions, diagnostic assessments (such as ADHD and Autism), training and program development, organisational consulting, employee wellbeing services, and executive coaching.
The practice also provides offence-specific and offence-related interventions, risk assessments, and psycho-legal reports for both civil and criminal matters.Role DescriptionThis is a full-time Psychologist role in a hybrid working arrangement, based in Essendon, VIC with some work-from-home flexibility.
The Psychologist will provide individual and group-based therapy, conduct psychological assessments, and prepare transparent, evidence-informed reports for clinical, organisational, and forensic purposes.
Daily responsibilities include maintaining accurate clinical documentation, engaging in multidisciplinary collaboration, and contributing to program development and training as required.
The role involves working with diverse presentations across the lifespan,



including mental health conditions, neurodevelopmental concerns, trauma, and offence-related issues.
The Psychologist will also participate in regular supervision, professional development, and quality improvement activities to support ethical and effective practice.QualificationsStrong foundation in Psychology and Mental Health, including assessment, formulation, and evidence-based intervention skills.Competence in Counseling and Psychological Assessment, with experience delivering individual and group interventions.Understanding of Medicine as it relates to psychological practice, including psychopharmacology awareness and interdisciplinary collaboration.Registration (or eligibility for registration) as a Psychologist with AHPRA; endorsement or experience in Clinical and/or Forensic Psychology is highly regarded.Postgraduate qualification in Psychology (e.g., Masters or Doctorate) and experience working across the lifespan with diverse client populations.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing for clinical, organisational, and legal contexts.Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team, with strong professional ethics and commitment to ongoing learning.Experience in risk assessment, trauma-informed practice, and offence-specific or offence-related interventions is an advantage.
