The ClientBlaze Engineering and Sheetmetal Fabrication Pty Ltd is a metal fabrication and engineering business based in Tullamarine, VIC, specialising in sheet metal fabrication, welding, metal assembly, and engineered manufacturing solutions.The ClientBlaze Engineering and Sheetmetal Fabrication Pty Ltd is a metal fabrication and engineering business based in Tullamarine, VIC, specialising in sheet metal fabrication, welding, metal assembly, and engineered manufacturing solutions.The RoleThey are seeking an experienced Welder (First Class) to join their team in Tullamarine, VIC.The Welder (First Class) is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and repairing metal components and structures using a range of welding and fabrication techniques.This is a full-time position with an annual salary of $78,000 to $82,000 plus superannuation.The ResponsibilitiesSelect and prepare appropriate welding equipment, consumables, and materials for welding operations.Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, welding procedures, and specifications to determine welding requirements.Mark out and cut metal sections and components using metal-cutting machinery.Shape and bend metal sections and plates using machine tools.Set up and operate MIG welding equipment to weld, join, and repair metal components and structures.Position and secure workpieces to ensure accurate alignment and welding in accordance with specifications.Perform welding operations on various metal components while maintaining required quality and safety standards.Inspect completed welds to ensure compliance with specified dimensions, quality requirements, and welding standards.Repair defective welds and damaged metal components through grinding, gouging, and rewelding processes.Perform weld finishing activities, including grinding and dressing welds to achieve the required finish and appearance.Use measuring and testing instruments to verify weld quality,
accuracy, and compliance with specifications.Carry out welding repairs and maintenance on metal structures, machinery, equipment, and related components.Clean and prepare metal surfaces before and after welding to ensure quality.Conduct routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting of welding equipment to ensure safe and productive operation.Follow workplace health and safety procedures, welding safety requirements, and relevant industry regulations at all times.Work collaboratively with supervisors, engineers, inspectors, and other trades personnel to complete welding tasks efficiently.Maintain accurate records of welding activities, inspections, repairs, materials used, and work completed.The RequirementsCertificate IV in Engineering or equivalent qualificationMinimum 1.5 years' experience as a Welder (First Class) or within metal fabrication environmentsMinimum 1.5 years' experience performing MIG welding across structural steel and fabricated metal componentsMinimum 1.5 years' experience interpreting engineering drawings, fabrication plans, and technical specificationsAt least 1.5 years' experience operating fabrication machinery, welding equipment, and metalworking toolsAt least 1.5 years' experience assembling, repairing, and finishing fabricated metal products to engineering standardsSound knowledge of a range of welding techniques, including TIG, flux-cored and manual metal arc welding, and their application in metal fabrication.Strong knowledge of welding procedures, fabrication methods, and metal finishing techniquesAbility to identify welding defects, dimensional inconsistencies, and fabrication issues accuratelyStrong understanding of workplace safety procedures, fabrication compliance standards, and workshop operationsGood communication skills and ability to work effectively within fabrication and engineering teamsHigh attention to detail and commitment to precision workmanship
