THE ROLE:
AMA College is seeking an experienced and passionate Head of Discipline to provide academic, operational and strategic leadership across our Nursing Program.
The role is accountable for the quality, compliance and overall performance of the Nursing program, providing strategic leadership to drive academic excellence, operational effectiveness and continuous improvement
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Academic Leadership & Quality
Lead the academic direction of the Nursing discipline, ensuring excellence in curriculum, teaching, assessment and educational quality.
Drive academic governance and continuous improvement, maintain compliance with industry and accreditation standards, and provide expert leadership to enhance nursing education and student success.
Leadership & Operational Management
Lead the Nursing discipline by providing strategic and operational leadership, building workforce capability and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
Oversee program performance, manage operational risks, support the Lead Nurse Educator and Nursing team, and contribute to the program's financial sustainability through effective planning, resource management and informed decision-making.
Compliance, Accreditation & Governance
Ensure the Nursing program maintains compliance with all relevant regulatory, legislative and accreditation requirements, including ASQA and ANMAC standards.
Lead accreditation, audit and reporting activities while proactively managing academic, operational and compliance risks to uphold the highest standards of quality and governance.
Student Success & Experience
Champion student success by overseeing progression, retention, completion and satisfaction outcomes.
Ensure effective support processes are in place to address student needs, concerns and appeals, while fostering a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Stakeholder Engagement & Continuous Improvement
Build and maintain strong relationships with industry partners, healthcare providers and internal stakeholders to enhance collaboration and engagement.
Represent AMA College in professional capacity while driving innovation, continuous improvement and opportunities for program growth that strengthen the College's sustainability and reputation.
ESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA:
Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
Postgraduate qualification in Nursing or a related field.
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or a recognised higher education teaching qualification.
Demonstrated leadership experience within nursing education, vocational education, higher education and/or the healthcare sector.
Strong understanding of the VET sector, RTO operations, ASQA and ANMAC compliance requirements, and academic governance.
Contemporary clinical nursing knowledge with a commitment to quality education and student success.
Proven ability to lead, develop and inspire high-performing teams while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Excellent communication,
stakeholder engagement, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Commercial awareness with the ability to contribute to the operational and financial sustainability of the Nursing discipline.
Current National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check.
