About the role
Engineers Australia Sydney Division delivers a range of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities, advocacy, industry engagement , STEM and community outreach initiatives.
We are based in the CBD with activities that include occasional off‐site locations across Sydney and broader NSW.
The role of the Assistant is primarily responsible for: (1) supporting event preparation and delivery including operation and maintenance of the audio‐visual equipment, facilities coordination and asset management, and (2) supporting and representing Engineers Australia at off‐site activities including Division led activities, community led events, STEM outreach talent development programs at schools and universities.
And (3) supporting various business units based across the Sydney office in an administrative capacity.
This is a casual prospect joins an existing pool of Assistants, offering up to 28 hours per fortnight with varying frequency of shifts to accommodate business seasonality fluctuations as needed.
This role is predominantly based in the CBD office and often entails evening work.
In this role you can expect to:
Support activities in the CBD office, managing catering, audio‐visual setups, triaging and event logistics.
Provide support to facilities coordination and maintainence,



ensuring the office is tidy, open, and closed appropriately for events and members usage.
Record attendance for CPD events and ensure WH&S; compliance.
Support Career Fairs and STEM initiatives offsite to nurture Engineering talent pipeline
Greet and respond efficiently to inquiries from event attendees, industry partners and membersdirecting complex issues to staff.
Administrative support duties as required including maintaining member records, , pre mortem event preparations, member and volunteer support, post event reporting, invoicing, member recognition

Here's what we're looking for:
You have or is studying a degree or certificate in a relevant field or have equivalent experience preferred
You are bright, positive and customer-oriented attitude
You maintain excellent verbal communication skills and have good written skills
You are comfortable working and understanding audio‐visual equipment.
You do well remaining calm under pressure
You will do well in this role if you have a willingness to support other team members
You remain professional and diligent and use your initiative when completing tasks
You are reliable and respectful of staff and stakeholders
You are comfortable with occasionally working independently with limited supervision
You are computer literate and have a good understanding of Microsoft 365 and an aptitude to learn new programs
Some experience in events and hospitality is highly desirable
Willing to complete a working with children's check, RSA certification,



First Aid Training, Warden training.
