UNIQLO opened the first store, in Emporium, Melbourne, in April ****, and as of today has expanded to 40 stores across Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, Western Australia, Queensland, and Australian Capital Territory.The Role:We are currently looking for a motivated Store Development Coordinator to join our team and support the successful delivery of all our company's projects.
This is ideal for someone with proven experience in project coordination, construction, or retail fit‐out, who is ready to take the next step and grow within a global retail brand.
You'll work closely with experienced project managers across the full project life cycle – from planning and procurement to on‐site coordination and handover on new store openings, refurbishments and minor works.This position is offered as a 12‐month fixed‐term contract.Key Responsibilities:Project Delivery & PlanningSupport the successful delivery of Uniqlo projects, including standards of performance, technical quality, cost and safety for refurbishments,
minor works and business improvement projects.Preparation of overall project programs and schedules in line with critical path2.
In office Coordination & Quality ControlCoordinate on‐site activities including quality control of contractors' work against UQ global and local standards; track and follow up on defects rectification in a timely manner before project completion and handover to the operations team.Carry out site inspections (interstate travel will be involved) against Uniqlo standards and project approved documentation3.
Project Governance & DocumentationMaintain project governance, processes, and systems to be utilised throughout project4.
Cost & ProcurementCost management in relation to procurement, variations in line with approved budgets including cost reporting and approvalsGeneral contractor and direct vendor tenderingParticipate in value engineering activities, ensuring project buildability and best practices are maintained5.
Stakeholder & Landlord CoordinationCoordinate Landlord Handovers ensuring base build, architectural and coordinated services are reflective of on‐site conditions and agreed scopeCoordinate the flow of project information between internal stakeholders, consultants, contractors and suppliers6.
Permits & ComplianceAssist in tracking permits and statutory matters (managed through consultants).7.
Ad-hoc SupportProvide support on other Store Development tasks and initiatives as required.Support new store opening activities, including pre‐opening coordination, snagging, and handover to store operations.Essential Skills and Experience:1.
Education & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Project Management,
Construction Management, Architecture, Interior Design, Property, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.At least 2 years of experience as a Construction or Design Project Coordinator, or Contract Administrator, in a client-side retail environment.2.
Technical Knowledge & SkillsAbility to coordinate multiple projects concurrently, keeping tasks, timelines, and stakeholders on track.Solid understanding of project management principles and the project life cycle.Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Asana) and proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Exposure to vendor procurement and contract administration processes.Comfortable working with numbers; basic understanding of project budgeting and cost tracking.Experience reading construction drawings or familiarity with AutoCAD / Bluebeam is highly regarded.3.
Soft SkillsStrong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence liaising with internal and external stakeholders.Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.High attention to detail, particularly with documents, drawings, numbers, and schedules.A collaborative team player who works effectively across cross-functional stakeholders.Proactive, self‐motivated, and eager to learn from senior team members.4.
