Senior Industrial Designer

Senior Industrial Designer | Sydney | $120k–$130k base

About the role

We're working with a well-established, multi-disciplinary product design consultancy in Sydney, home to industrial design, electronics and firmware development under one roof. They take products from early concept through to full production for a mix of startups and established brands, working across consumer electronics, IoT, medical devices, ruggedised equipment and wearable tech.

With a strong pipeline of new projects, they're looking for a Lead Industrial Designer to take ownership of end-to-end product development - someone comfortable wearing multiple hats and energised by the variety that comes with new product development work.

What you'll do

- Lead design projects from initial concept through to production
- Meet with clients to understand project needs and shape project plans and proposals
- Collaborate closely with electronic engineering and firmware teams, liaising regularly with project managers
- Mentor and support other designers
- Communicate design intent through sketching, CAD (Solid Works) and photorealistic rendering (Keyshot)
- Develop complex parts and mechanisms, proving function through rapid prototyping




- Iterate across a wide range of concepts, evaluating each against client goals
- Produce full production documentation — 2D/3D drawings, BOMs and related detail
- Work with local and offshore manufacturers through pre-production and production
- Present technical design work to clients in a explicit, accessible way

What we're looking for

- A degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with proven product development experience
- Strong industrial design experience, ideally including time in a consultancy setting
- Confidence leading client relationships and managing your own projects
- Proficiency in Solid Works, Keyshot and Adobe Creative Suite
- A portfolio showing design excellence, strong technical detailing and evidence of production oversight
- Hands-on experience with injection moulding, CNC and sheet metal manufacturing
- Comfortable mentoring other designers and shaping junior talent
- A practical, hands-on approach with a genuine interest in iterative problem-solving

- Full-time, Sydney-based - on-site, not suited to remote work
- $120k–$130k base, depending on experience
