Looking for a role where you can genuinely influence long-term water outcomes for regional communities? This opportunity gives you the scope to lead meaningful projects while stepping into a broader leadership pathway. You'll be trusted to shape strategy, support a capable team, and play a key role in securing water resources for the future.
About the role
This is a hands-on senior role where you'll lead environmental engineering projects from early planning through to delivery. Much of your work will focus on water security, wastewater solutions and sub-regional infrastructure strategies.
Day-to-day, you'll balance technical leadership with project ownership. That includes guiding your team on technical direction, reviewing and certifying work, and staying close enough to delivery to step in when needed. You'll manage timelines, budgets and stakeholders, while also contributing to client relationships and future opportunities.
You'll be working across impact assessments, site investigations and environmental compliance, using tools like GIS and modelling software to support practical, well-informed outcomes.
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who is both technically strong and comfortable leading others.
Must have:
- Solid background in environmental engineering, with around 8+ years' experience
- Experience delivering water, wastewater or sewage projects
- Confidence managing projects end-to-end, including budgets and timelines
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to guide and mentor less experienced engineers
Nice to have:
- Experience with GIS and environmental modelling tools (e.g. MUSIC)
- Knowledge of NSW environmental legislation and approvals processes
- Relevant professional memberships
This role will suit someone who enjoys being involved in the detail but is also motivated by developing people and contributing to a bigger picture.
The team
You'll join a collaborative, down-to-earth team that values practical thinking and shared success. The group works closely together, supports each other during delivery peaks, and takes pride in producing work that has a real impact on regional communities.
There's a good balance of experienced professionals and developing engineers, so your input as a mentor and leader will be valued from day one.
- Clear pathway into a broader leadership role over time
- Flexible working options, including hybrid or remote arrangements
- Relocation support to Orange if needed
- Ongoing professional development and support for accreditation
- Additional benefits including birthday leave, wellbeing subsidy and referral incentives
Most importantly, you'll be working on projects with long-term importance, not just short-term deliverables.
