About The Role
You will contribute to the ongoing governance, modelling and analysis, operation and system integration of augmentations to the WAIO power system.
This is a highly specialist role within the Infrastructure & Services (I&S;) Electrical Governance and Technical Stewardship team. You will join a team of Subject Matter Experts who focus is on ongoing development and implementation of the Power System Development Framework as WAIO makes the energy transition.
Success in this role is characterised by technical leadership, engagement across broad stakeholders, critical thinking and a solution-focused attitude.
- Ongoing development and implementation of the WAIO power system Technical Rules and supporting governance framework
- Centralised management, governance and development of the power system and protection system models
- Monitor compliance to technical standards
- Provision of specialised power system expertise and technical support to stakeholder groups, project teams and functions
- System integration of renewable generation and battery energy storage systems
- Lead, supervise, review and undertake power system analysis using specialised computer simulation tools including Power Factory and PSCAD
- Protection system modelling and configuration management in Power Factory and Station Ware
- Interpret and justify simulation outcomes, draw conclusions, and provide robust recommendations on augmentations required and impacts on the power system
About You
- Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering
- Industry or related experience in electricity transmission and distribution with a focus on power system modelling, analysis and operation
- Knowledge of synchronous generation, renewable energy generation and battery energy storage systems
- Demonstrated proficiency in using power system analysis tools or relevant software (such as Power Factory and PSCAD) and the interpretation of analysis performed
- Experience with protection system modelling and configuration management in Power Factory and Station Ware
- Strong analytical, investigation and problem‑solving skills
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills and good interpersonal skills
- Communicating recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
