Senior Electrical Engineer – Buildings

What you'll do
- Support the delivery of electrical building services designs across a diverse portfolio of projects spanning defence, healthcare, data centres, resources and commercial developments.
- Work as part of our growing Buildings team, helping shape innovative, safe and sustainable solutions while supporting the development of emerging engineers.
- Drive technical excellence by undertaking engineering calculations, design reviews and technical assessments to ensure designs are safe, compliant and fit for purpose.
- Collaborate across disciplines – work closely with architects, structural, civil, mechanical, ICT, hydraulics, fire and sustainability specialists to develop integrated building solutions.
- Contribute to project planning, resource allocation and design budget management, ensuring quality outcomes delivered efficiently.
- Engage with project managers, contractors, subcontractors, clients and external stakeholders to resolve challenges, communicate design intent and support project delivery.
What you'll bring
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related discipline.
- Approximately 6+ years' experience delivering electrical building services design projects within a consulting, engineering or design setting.
- Demonstrated experience with complex building projects such as defence, healthcare, data centres, commercial developments,
resources non‐process infrastructure or similar sectors.
- Strong technical capability across low‐voltage power distribution, essential and non‐essential systems, backup generation, UPS systems, earthing, protection and coordination, and compliance‐based design.
- Experience in lighting design, including emergency and egress lighting, and coordination of electrical services within complex building environments.
- Sound knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, National Construction Code (NCC) and electrical design requirements including AS/NZS 3000 and related standards.
- Experience producing and reviewing technical documentation, engineering calculations, reports and design deliverables.
- Proficiency with industry software such as Revit, AutoCAD, PowerCAD, AGi32, DIALux, SKM, ETAP or similar design tools.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and problem‐solving skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Chartered status with Engineers Australia, or progress towards chartership, is highly regarded.
- Australian citizenship or ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Baseline Security Clearance is highly regarded due to the nature of defence‐related projects.
