The Opportunity

Our business continues to grow, so we are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Townsville team. You'll work across a wide mix of commodities, tackling both greenfield and brownfield projects alongside a high‐performing, collaborative engineering group.

This role is ideal for someone who loves taking ownership, solving complex problems, and seeing designs come to life.

Responsibilities:

- Ability to take projects from problem definition, through business case justification, delivery, commissioning, and handover
- Assisting with construction and commissioning including occasional site-based work when required
- Produce and ensure design outcomes comply with applicable legislation, standards, and client project requirements
- Undertake mechanical and piping engineering design calculations for bulk materials handling plants, wet process plants and heavy industry
- Development and continuous improvement of the mechanical and piping design tools; including drawings datasheets, equipment, schedules and models
- Provide succinct updates / reporting and timely escalation of issues
- Development and input into capital cost estimates, scopes of work / proposals for tender processes when required

The Ideal Candidate:

- Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering
- CPEng / RPEQ Qualification (or working towards)
- 7+ years working experience as a Mechanical Engineer
- Previous experience working in a multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy
- Significant mining, minerals processing or industrial experience
- Mechanical, materials handling and piping design experience
- Design experience in wet and/or dry mineral processing plants
- Knowledge and practical application of relevant industry codes of practice
- Ability to understand and assimilate project and client specific requirements
- Self‐motivated and decisive, adaptable to change and competing demands
