Join Oncology Services (Adult) at Townsville Hospital and Health Service as a Nurse Navigator - Cancer Care Coordinator.

This role focuses on supporting patients with Oncology and Haematology conditions. The opportunity assists to improve health care outcomes for this patient cohort with a proactive approach to streamlining their healthcare journey and engaging primary health care services.

PLEASE NOTE - This is a temporary part time role, commencing 19/10/2026 - 17/10/2027, with a possible 12 months extension (40 hours per fortnight).

The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following:

- Provide expert nursing leadership and coordination within complex systems and Chronic Conditions and Chronic Disease environment.
- Sound knowledge of contemporary nursing practice and theory and the ability to apply relevant legislation, guidelines and standards.
- Integrate the strategic direction and priorities for quality improvement into the clinical service, establishing a quality framework.
- Advanced leadership, negotiation, conflict resolution and change management skills to ensure customer focused service provision amongst the multidisciplinary team.
- High level of communication skills required for problem solving and decision making.




- Use information and reporting systems appropriate to the position.
- Ongoing professional development of self and others.
- Understanding of teaching and learning in the health care environment (adult learning principles) with demonstrated clinical teaching and facilitation skills.

Role requirements

- Qualification: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.
- Highly Desirable: Possession of a relevant postgraduate qualification in an appropriate field is highly desirable. Such experience may be discipline specific or have a service area focus.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role. Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Tuberculosis.

- Salary range: $70.58 - $76.63 p.h. (NG7)
- 4 weeks annual leave (pro rata) with 17.5% loading
- 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
