- Salary/Total Indicative Remuneration: $99,707 - $158,523 p.a. plus Superannuation and Salary Sacrifice benefits – MDP2

About the Role

Point-of-care ultrasound is reshaping emergency medicine, and Lyell McEwin Hospital is looking for a Medical Practitioner ready to build genuine subspecialty expertise at one of South Australia's busiest public emergency departments. This full-time, fixed-term contract role runs through to 30 January 2028, giving you a structured, immersive pathway to advance your emergency ultrasound skills within a collegial and clinically progressive team.

What You'll Be Doing

- Performing and interpreting point-of-care ultrasound across a broad range of emergency presentations, including trauma, cardiac, and procedural applications
- Contributing to the clinical management of emergency patients across the full acuity spectrum at Lyell McEwin Hospital
- Supporting the development and delivery of ultrasound education for junior medical staff and registrars within NALHN
- Participating in quality improvement activities aligned with Northern Adelaide Local Health Network's emergency medicine priorities

What You'll Bring

- Current registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)
- Demonstrated emergency medicine experience at a registrar level or above
- Existing foundational point-of-care ultrasound competency with a commitment to formal credentialing progression
- Strong clinical reasoning and the ability to perform effectively in a high-volume, time-sensitive environment
- A commitment to the SA Health Values of integrity, respect, and accountability in every patient interaction




- Eligibility to work within the SA public health system, including satisfactory background screening

To be eligible for this position, you must have a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with General Registration.

The Total Indicative Remuneration figure is calculated taking into account base salary, leave loading and superannuation as well as managerial allowances, professional development or any other allowances where appropriate.

In this role you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills which will enable you to successfully problem solve, resolve conflicts and negotiate, including the ability to engage in difficult conversations, whilst building and maintaining relationships.

An ability to effectively manage multiple, diverse and competing priorities and demonstrated resilience within a stressful and complex environment is essential to this role.
